Mr. Liuzzi
Year joined Stella Faculty:
September of 2007
Personal:
In addition to teaching art, I am a researcher/writer on the subject of art, sociology, and in particular, clothing history. In regards to the latter, I am also a theatrical costume and wig designer/technician for stage and screen.
Teaching Philosophy:
Exploration is the best teacher; by experiencing things first hand and evaluating the result, students form a close and lasting relationship to content.
Describe what students will learn in your class:
Students will learn about and work with a wide range of media and artistic processes including weaving, ceramics, different types of painting, papier mache, dyeing, and mixed media. Students will also learn about the history of art, how to critically look at art, and how culture shapes what people value as beautiful.
Favorite Quote:
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
-Thomas Merton
