Mrs. Bennett

Sixth Grade/Spanish

Year joined Stella Faculty:

2003

Personal:

I have been a teacher at Stella Niagara for 14 years.  I began teaching in the Montessori program, and have taught Spanish for the past 11 years.  I have two children who graduated from Stella Niagara and were both very successful in high school.  My son is a student at Santa Clara University near San Francisco and my daughter is a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.  They were fortunate to have experienced the “Stella Advantage.”   My husband is a professor at Niagara University.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that everyone can learn another language.  I try to make learning Spanish fun so that the students aren’t averse to learning a new language.  We play games, sing, write and perform skits, and make videos

Describe what students will learn in your class:

By the time most students graduate from Stella Niagara, they are proficient in Spanish.  Many test into Spanish 2 or 3 in high school, and some have gone on to major/minor in Spanish in college.  More importantly, they learn to appreciate another language and culture.

Favorite Quote:

“To have another language is to possess another soul.”
