Personal

I have had the privilege of working at Stella Niagara Education Park for the past 18 years.  I am a mother of two wonderful adults that have given my life continued joy.  I also have been given three wonderful grandchildren to spoil daily.

Teaching Philosophy

As  an educator my emphasis is to support and enlighten young impressionable minds.  I believe engagement is critical and placing students at the center of the teaching process ensures more effective learning. I integrate tools of active learning ranging from technology to in class groups in doing so this creates a learning experience that is dynamic and memorable.  It is important to me that students interact with content and pursue inquiry in an authentic way.

What students will learn in my class

In my classroom students will be learning about plants, living things, and ecosystems not only during science class but they will also experience it while outside during outdoor education. Our math curriculum covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and measurement as well.  Geometry is another topic we cover not only in math class but also during outdoor education.  The most important thing I can teach my students is how to look at the problems they don’t understand.  I teach them how to understand the problem and to continue to work on it with out giving up.
