Mrs. Goodenough

Fifth Grade

I am beyond excited to begin my journey here at Stella Niagara! I am a graduate of Buffalo State College where I received my Bachelors and Masters in Childhood Education B-6 and Exceptional Education B-6. I have been working the last few years in several school districts throughout many grade levels fulfilling long term positions, teaching Summer School, and much more. I have had amazing experiences teaching all contents of 5th grade and am looking forward to continuing these experiences in 5th while gaining many wonderful new ones here at Stella Niagara. I live in Gasport and enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with my many nieces and nephews.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe as an educator that my classroom should be a positive environment where students feel welcomed, safe, valued, respected, and nurtured all while possessing clear expectations, and routines. I integrate a “team” like classroom in which students are the center of the teaching process all while working together and with my guidance to create an effective learning environment. Through the use of technology, hands-on learning, projects, activities, and cooperative learning active and engaged learning is created that is dynamic, memorable, and fun for students all while differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each child. It is also my belief that students all have something special and unique that they can bring to their own individual, education and deserve to do so where they can grow mentally, emotionally, socially, and physically.

Describe what students will learn in your class

Students will be learning many contents and aspects of 5th grade ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as team work, diversity, kindness, respect, honesty, and enjoying, loving, and continuing to learn who they are as individuals.
