Stella Niagara North Star Narwhals
Swim Team Philosophy
The priorities of the Stella swim team are – in this order – safety, sportsmanship, and speed.
SAFETY: It is vital that swimmers follow the rules and listen to all coaches, lifeguards, and officials. We want to make sure that no one dives into the shallow end, runs on the pool deck, or does anything that could be harmful to themselves or others.
SPORTSMANSHIP: Swimmers should strive, in keeping with the spirit of Stella Niagara, to act with gentle courtesy toward all.
SPEED: Of course, we also want our swimmers to be fast and to beat their opponents. Practicing hard is essential for this. The longer and harder you practice, the faster you get – it’s that simple.
These criteria – safety, sportsmanship, and speed – are the ones we use during practices and meets.

Neumann Catholic Swim League
The Neumann Catholic Swim League, Inc. (NCSL) is an independent tax-exempt organization dedicated to teaching students of all denominations the sport of competitive swimming. The organization has taught thousands of young people from grades kindergarten through eighth since it’s inception in 1983. The NCSL, which originally included eight Western New York schools, has now grown to serving twenty schools and over a thousand student athletes annually. Through support from the Diocese of Buffalo, private sponsorship, and countless parent volunteers over the league history, the league has managed to continue to operate and grow. Through the early intervention and guidance of our program, the league has contributed to the successful development of several top-ranked swimmers in the greater Buffalo area, who have continued to be successful beyond their scholastic careers.
